During our Training for the MOI’s Judges, we held it in Hormuz Grand Hotel and I can tell you, it is truly GRAND!!! Such a beautiful 5-star Hotel.
Overlooking the Muscat mountains, this glamorous hotel is 4 km from both Muscat Hills Golf & Country Club and Muscat International Airport.
Chic rooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows, and bathrooms with rainfall showers. All include free Wi-Fi, flat-screens, and tea and coffeemakers. Club rooms offer plush sofas, complimentary breakfast and lounge access. Suites add balconies, some with mountain views. There’s 24-hour room service.
Amenities include a modern international restaurant with a terrace, as well as a sleek Indian eatery, a cool lounge and a lively bar. There’s also a gym, a spa and an outdoor pool. Parking is free.
The Fountain outside will greet the visitors when you enter the Hotel.
They have a HUGE lobby.
Beautiful and Very Elegant interior!
Someone is playing harp to entertain the guests.
In the lobby, they offer free traditional Omani snacks like dates, you also get a taste of their traditional coffee which is really good.
Apricot – too sweet.
Omani Halwa Dessert – a little bit tangy…like our calamay with ginger.
Baclava sweets – this is really good!
All these snacks goes well with their bitter coffee that I love!
In the Pool area, you will enjoy sitting there, as it is peaceful and really breath-taking. The Hotel has big, tall doors! Actually, most of their doors in Oman are grand!
Beautiful paintings surrounds the Hotel.
I love their spacious hallways.
Even the elevators looks fab.
Have some tea or coffee in their lobby Cafe.
They have beautiful Conference Rooms served with Breakfast and Snack Buffet and the food taste GREAT!!!
We rented Board Rooms 1 & 2.
Overflowing yummy snacks!
This one is like our empanada – it’s their Traditional falafel sandwiches. Great to eat with mayonnaise.
They have a huge Veranda that is overlooking their pool area.
Had fun chatting with these guys during breaks. They are wearing their traditional dress dishdasha and their traditional turban massar or mazar.
The Omani turban is a kind of keffieh which Omani wear wrapped around their head. This male accessory is the official cap in the country. The Omani turban names massar or mazar is very varied. It can be found in white cotton, thin embrodered wool, in cashemer and also multicolored.
And one of our Omani friend gave us Cashemers and we thought it is used as a shawl.
And we were wrong. It should be worn like this:
Hahaha…can’t help to admire the texture of this cloth, I like using it as a shawl rather than a cap, it is so soft. Omani Men wear it if they are attending important events. For their daily use, they wear kumma as I mentioned in my other blog. (Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque)
Really makes me feel like I’m a Princess. Haha
And time for more food. Lunch buffet. They serve you variety of food that you will love. What I like about this hotel is each day, they serve different kind of dishes.
Chocolates with Dates
Lamb Shuwa – Shuwa is a typical Omani delicacy prepared only on very special occasions. Eid is probably the most common occasion hence “” The meat festival “” The method of preparing shuwa is elaborate. The meat is marinated with spices and then wrapped in sacks made of dry banana or palm leaves.
I was lucky that I had a chance to taste their Lamb Shuwa. Surprisingly, their lamb has no after taste. It’s really good.
Oman is blessed with so many different fruits even if it rarely rains in their country, they managed to grow different plants.
This is my favorite dessert of Oman – UmAli – really taste good. It’s like bread with milk that taste sweet. I love it!!!
UmAli- is the most popular dessert in UAE, and it has its roots in Egypt. UmAli means the queen of puddings that is filled with the goodness of dry fruits. Its heavy, rich and served as the most favourite dessert during Ramadan. Chef Rahat prepared UmAli in an authentic way yet in simple manners, just follow step by step and see your own creativity!
I love the design of their door in the dining area.
Overall, I rate Hormuz Grand Hotel 10/10. Beautiful, Elegant, Amazing food, Great interior, Great Service…I love it!!!
Listen how good he plays harp.
